语用学是语言学各分支中一个以语言意义为研究对象的新兴学科领域,是专门研究语言的理解和使用的学问,它研究在特定情景中的特定话语,研究如何通过语境来理解和使用语言.语用学因其本身的目的性和价值性而不同于语法研究,它是关于人类语言本身的研究.在语言的使用中,说话人往往并不是单纯地要表达语言成分和符号单位的静态意义,听话人通常要通过一系列心理推断,去理解说话人的实际意图.要做到真正理解和恰当使用一门语言,仅仅懂得构成这门语言的发音、词汇和语法是远远不够的.
功能语言学是俄罗斯语言学研究中的一个十分重要的流派,对推动俄罗斯的语言研究和发展以及对外俄语教学都将起到积极的作用.目前国内还没有类似的著作和成果,因此,系统介绍俄罗斯功能语言学具有很高的理沦价值和应用意义
系统功能语言学（system-functional linguistics)为英国著名的语言学家韩礼德Halliday 创立.英文论点如下：
Systemic Grammar is different from other linguistic theories in the following aspects.
Firstly, it attaches great importance to the sociological aspects of language.
Secondly, it views language as a form of doing rather than a form of knowing. It distinguishes linguistic behaviour potential from actual linguistic behaviour.
Thirdly, it gives a relatively high priority to description of the characteristics of particular languages and particular varieties of languages.
Fourthly, it explains a number of aspects of language in terms of clines (i.e. ungrammatical →more unusual →less unusual →less usual→ grammatical).
Fifthly, it seeks verification of its hypotheses by means of observation from texts and by means of statistical techniques.
Lastly, it has as its central category the category of the system.
