In recent years Chinese manufacturing advanced by leaps and bounds, ‘made in China’ has already spreaded to every corner of the world. China is known as the "the world factory". But Chinese manufacturing also faced severe challenges albeit the achivement. Transformation to a service-based industry is imminent.
This article analysed the Chinese manufacturing environment and the industrial structure evolution patern, and illustrated the necessity and urgency of transformation to service-based manufacturing. Then it expounded the concept and characteristic of service-type manufacturing and the difference between the aforesaid and the traditional manufacturing industry, followed by a summary of the operation mode of service-based manufacturing. Finanally it pointed out the practical approaches for such transformation.
